How to Define Success for Yourself and Live Out Your Values

Hey there, fabulous readers! 🌟

I’m thrilled to dive into a topic that’s close to my heart today: defining success for yourself and living out your values. This is something I’ve grappled with over the years, balancing motherhood, building three successful network marketing businesses, and maintaining a passion for gardening, crafts, foodie adventures, and all things Disney. So, grab a cup of your favorite beverage, and let’s chat!

What Does Success Mean to You?

Success is one of those elusive concepts that everyone seems to chase but few can define. If you ask a dozen people what success means, you’ll likely get a dozen different answers. For some, it’s about career achievements or financial stability. For others, it’s about personal happiness and fulfillment. And for many, it’s a mix of both.

When I first started with Perfectly Posh, The Body Shop at Home, and now Jordan Essentials, I thought success was purely about hitting those sales targets and building a large team. But over time, I realized that true success is about more than just numbers. It’s about feeling content and aligned with your values.

Identify Your Core Values

Before you can define success, you need to know what’s important to you. Your core values are the guiding principles that shape your decisions, goals, and ultimately, your definition of success. Here’s a simple exercise to help you identify your core values:

  1. Reflect on Your Experiences: Think about the moments in your life when you felt happiest and most fulfilled. What were you doing? Who were you with? What values were being honored in those moments?
  2. Make a List: Write down the values that come to mind. They could be things like family, integrity, creativity, adventure, or community.
  3. Prioritize: Narrow down your list to your top 3-5 values. These are your non-negotiables, the principles you want to live by no matter what.

My top values are family, integrity, growth, and joy. These values guide everything I do, from running my business to spending my free time.

Align Your Goals with Your Values

Once you’ve identified your core values, the next step is to align your goals with them. This ensures that your pursuit of success doesn’t come at the expense of what matters most to you. Here’s how you can do that:

  1. Set Value-Driven Goals: When setting goals, ask yourself how they align with your core values. For example, if family is a top value, set goals that allow you to spend quality time with your loved ones.
  2. Create a Vision Board: Visualize your goals and values by creating a vision board. Include images, quotes, and anything that inspires you to live out your values. Place it somewhere you’ll see it daily as a reminder of what you’re working towards.
  3. Regular Check-Ins: Periodically review your goals and values to ensure they’re still aligned. Life is dynamic, and sometimes our values or circumstances change. Regular check-ins help you stay on track.

Living Out Your Values in Everyday Life

Living out your values isn’t just about setting goals; it’s about making them a part of your everyday life. Here are a few tips to help you integrate your values into your daily routine:

  1. Practice Mindfulness: Take a few minutes each day to reflect on your actions and decisions. Are they aligned with your values? If not, how can you adjust?
  2. Set Boundaries: Protect your time and energy by setting boundaries that honor your values. If growth and learning are important to you, make sure you carve out time for personal development.
  3. Celebrate Small Wins: Recognize and celebrate the small steps you take towards living out your values. Each small win is a victory in staying true to yourself.

Success and Happiness: The Perfect Pair

Ultimately, success and happiness go hand in hand. When you define success on your own terms and live out your values, you create a life that feels fulfilling and meaningful. It’s not always easy, and there will be challenges along the way, but remember, it’s your journey. Embrace it with all its ups and downs.

I’ve found immense joy in the journey of building my businesses, traveling, and exploring my passions. Whether it’s a sunny day spent gardening in Colorado Springs or a magical trip to Disney, I make sure that my definition of success includes joy and fulfillment.

Your Turn!

Now it’s your turn to define success for yourself and live out your values. Remember, there’s no right or wrong way to do this. It’s all about what feels right for you. So, take a deep breath, trust yourself, and go for it!

And if you ever need a little inspiration or support along the way, know that I’m here cheering you on. You’ve got this!

Until next time, stay fabulous and true to yourself.

With love and excitement,
